Jennifer Pickens: Cancer's worst was no match for Baylor Scott & White's best.

Teacher Jennifer Pickens was diagnosed with a fast-growing cancer in her thigh just before the school year began. "I didn't even make it to the first day," she says. Instead, she faced rounds of chemotherapy, radiation and then surgery. "The chemo knocked out my immune system," Jennifer explains. "I was in and out of the hospital. Baylor got me through the worst." Today, Jennifer is back to teaching. She also finds time for a volunteer job - working with a Baylor nurse navigator to facilitate a cancer support group.
