Mandi Hurtt: "My ulcerative colitis is history, thanks to Baylor."

Mandi Hurtt struggled with painful ulcerative colitis for 20 years. She was in and out of the hospital every three or four months. Her activities were severely restricted because she had to be near a bathroom at all times. She couldn’t enjoy traveling, sporting events or playing with her children. “Even going to get groceries was difficult.” At Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas, Mandi had J-pouch surgery, an innovative procedure in which the large intestine is removed and part of the small intestine is formed into a pouch, which acts as the large intestine. “I’m back to excercising and know what it’s like to feel good again. Baylor Scott & White Health gave me a new life by performing this surgery.”
