Life can be unpredictable. Our protection benefits help ensure your family has a steady source of income no matter what life brings.

Life insurance

We provide basic employee life insurance through Cigna that pays a benefit to your beneficiary equal to 1x your annual base salary, with a minimum of $20,000 and a maximum of $500,000*. There's no medical underwriting and coverage begins on your first day of employment.

*Other coverage levels are available for certain executive and physician roles in the PeoplePlace enrollment System. 

Accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D)

We provide basic AD&D insurance equal to 1x your annual base salary, with a minimum of $20,000 and a maximum of $50,000*. There's no medical underwriting and your coverage on your first day of employment. 

In addition, you can purchase supplemental coverage up to 7x your annual base salary up to $2,000,000.


We offer three levels of disability coverage to employees: 

  • Voluntary short-term, which you buy yourself
  • Basic long-term, which we buy for you
  • Supplemental long-term, which you buy for yourself if you want additional protection

Short-term disability is the only way to receive maternity, parental and adoption leave benefits.

Coverage is guaranteed and no health questions or physical exams are required.

Accidental injury

With Cigna Accidental Injury insurance, you get a benefit to help pay for costs associated with a covered accident or injury.

It provides a lump-sum payment to you, unless otherwise assigned, based on a schedule of covered injuries.

Critical illness insurance

With Cigna Critical Illness insurance, you get a benefit paid directly to the covered person, unless otherwise assigned, if they are diagnosed with a covered critical illness.

You choose how to spend or save your benefit. It can be used for expenses such as paying for child care or help around the house, travel costs to see a specialist or medical treatment.


The Hyatt Legal Plan provides you, your spouse and your dependents with fully covered legal services. No deductibles, no copays, no claim forms or usage limits when you use one of the 15,000 network attorneys. Receive fully covered legal services for a wide range of matters.

When my son and I were in a car accident, my insurance incorrectly placed me at fault. But, with legal coverage, I chose an attorney, fought the claim and recouped the costs with minor expense and hassle.
