Become a Volunteer

Join our volunteers for a number of ways to get involved and make a difference in health care.

The volunteer program at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Centennial is a vital part of our organization. Volunteers are an extension of the hospital to the community and assist staff in creating the best possible experience for our patients and visitors.

Many of our departments depend on the help of volunteers who donate their time. These include:

  • Administrative: Volunteers who work in administrative areas assist in keeping their assigned departments organized. Duties may include filing, answering phones, and assembling informational packets.
  • Non-Administrative: Non-administrative volunteers help the clinical staff with various tasks.
  • Hospital Liaison: Hospital liaison volunteers help at the information desk and in our waiting rooms to ensure patients' and visitors' needs are being met.
  • Pastoral Care: Our pastoral care program is near and dear to our hearts because these volunteers support our patients and their families in times of greatest need.

Adult Volunteer Application Requirements

  • Completed and signed volunteer application
  • One letter of reference from a non-relative

Student Volunteer (Summer Only) Application Requirements

Our student volunteer program offers both college and high school-aged students an opportunity to learn about the healthcare industry and the importance of volunteerism and dedication to an organization that is valuable in their future career endeavors. With this in mind, we prefer that all applications and follow up processes come directly from the student volunteer, so that they learn the importance of applying to similar programs in the future.

Student volunteers serve in a variety of ways including: staff support, customer service, and direct patient care. Please note that our volunteers provide services that are strictly comforting in nature and are not able to shadow nurses, doctors and clinicians or to take vital signs and observe procedures. This program runs from June 1st to August 15th.
