Clinical Decision Unit

Position Summary

  • Support and assist clinical staff with non-clinical tasks related to department.
  • Enhance hospitality with courteous communication with patients, family members, and visitors.

 

Roles/Functions

  • Greet and escort patients, family members and visitors as necessary
  • Assist with answering phones
  • Perform clerical duties upon request, i.e., copying, filing
  • Restock supplies in patient rooms as needed
  • Check expiration dates on supplies in supply room

Concierge

Position Summary

  • Enhance the visitor experience by creating a welcoming atmosphere through exceptional customer service.

 

Roles/Functions

  • Greet and welcome all incoming guests
  • Direct and escort patients, visitors and vendors to departments
  • Provide patient room numbers as requested
  • Answer in-coming phone calls
  • Straighten and maintain waiting areas, i.e., throw away items left, wipe up spills, straighten magazines and books.
  • Restock Coffee Bar in ICU/Surgical Waiting Area
  • Provide guest resources as needed/requested

Day Surgery

Position Summary

  • Support clinical staff by performing non-clinical tasks related to department
  • Enhance hospitality withcourteous communication with patients, family members and visitors.

 

Roles/Functions

  • Greet and escort patient and families to and from pre-op area
  • Answer phones, open controlled access door to unit
  • Wipe rooms w/disinfectant after patient taken to surgery/discharge (stretcher, tray table, chair)
  • Restock patient room with standard supplies
  • Assemble patient packets, bed packs or other supplies
  • Wipe wheelchairs with disinfectant wipes after discharge
  • Check expiration dates on supplies or perform other clerical duties upon request

  • Must be able to stand, 50% of shift on your feet

Emergency Department

Position Summary

  • Support clinical staff by performing non-clinical tasks related to department.
  • Enhance hospitality with courteous communication with patients, family members and visitors.

 

Roles/Functions

  • Disinfectant room after discharge (bed, tray table, chair, IV Pole, all cables)
  • Notify Charge Nurse or Unit Secretary once room is clean and ready
  • Provide clean linens for bed
  • Restock cabinets with standard supplies
  • Check expiration dates on supplies
  • Provide comfort items, i.e., warm blankets, water, food, etc.
  • Escort patient to waiting area upon discharge
  • Return wheelchair to ED registration area for cleaning

Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

Position Summary

VOLUNTEERS ARE NOT TO ENTER COVID ROOMS

 

Roles/Functions

  • Answer Call Lights
  • Answer Phones
  • Pass out meal trays. Assist with ordering meals. NON COVID ROOMS ONLY
  • Stock carts and gloves
  • Check expiration dates on supplies
  • Check sharps containers
  • Refill blanket warmer and wipes warmer
  • Check cabinets/drawers of empty rooms for extra equipment or cables
  • Visitor Log
    1. COVID-19, PUI, & Recovered patients; 11AM - 3PM (1visitor/day for 1 hour)
    2. Negative Patients; 6AM - 9AM (1 visitor at a time)

Med-Surg

NICU

Position Summary

OR Desk

Position Summary

  • Support clinical staff by performing non-clinical tasks related to department.

Roles/Functions

  • Greet incoming visitors
  • Check to insure visitors are badged
  • Assist with phones
  • Assist with clerical duties upon request
  • Assist Vendors/Reps with finding forms or medical staff
  • Facilitate communication between OR's and Medical Staff
  • Report to OR Leadership on pressing issues if needed

Pastoral Care

Position Summary

  • Provide encouragement to patients as well as, prayer, and communion.
  • Enhance hospitality with courteous communication with patients, family members and visitors.

 

Roles/Functions

  • Visit patients and offer prayer and/or communion
  • Visit Access Services Department for patient listing
  • Check off visits make on list, turn in at end of visits in Volunteer Office - Purple Folder
  • Check at nurses station to see which patients might like a visit
  • Provide feedback to nursing staff after visit

Supply Chain

Position Summary

  • Assist SCS staff with supply maintenance and management.

 

Roles/Functions

  • Check expired/expiring dates on supplies
  • Cleaning and organizing bins/materials in supply locations
  • Check for damaged/worn-out labels / Replace once SCS Team provides replacement
  • Assist SCS Team Member with transportation, placing and organization of supplies, and discarding of shipping materials
  • Deliver shipping container(s) to dock pick up location
  • Other duties and/or projects to be determined by SCS Supervisor and/or Director

Supportive Palliative Care (SPC)

SPC supports patients and families facing serious illness and helps palliate (relieve) the physical, emotional, social and/or spiritual burdens that often accompany serious illness.

Position Summary

  • Provide emotional and social support to patients. Enhance hospitality with interaction and companionship.

 

Roles/Functions

  • Communication with Medical Director of Supportive and Palliative Care
  • Interaction with patients to include, but not limited to the following:
    1. Talking
    2. Listening
    3. Reading
    4. Crossword Puzzle
    5. Adult Coloring Book
    6. Journaling
  • Check in at nurse's station to let them know which patient you are visiting per Dr. Glass direction.
  • Provide feedback via email to Dr. Glass following visit
