We take an active role in sponsoring, hosting, facilitating and participating in many community activities and initiatives. We have a presence at a number of events throughout the area and support several local organizations. We look forward to working with you in the community through participating in one of the following events.
Community Benefit Support Groups
We take an active role in sponsoring, hosting, facilitating and participating in many community support groups. We welcome you to attend one of the following, or call the listed number for more information.
Breast Cancer Support Group meets on the first Tuesday of every other month, (January, March, May, July, September and November) from 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. and is for all breast cancer survivors, whether newly diagnosed or a long-term survivor. We provide information, resources, emotional support, healthy tips, guest speakers, and a time for survivors to share concerns, ask questions, and learn from each other. The group meets at Baylor Scott & White Breast Center – Rockwall, located at 1005 W. Ralph Hall Parkway, Suite 121 in Rockwall.

Diabetes Support Group meets the first Thursday of each month beginning at 7 p.m. in the Inservice Room across from the Lake Pointe Café at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Lake Pointe located at 6800 Scenic Drive in Rowlett.

Living Well with Cancer is a support program for cancer survivors, their family and friends. Come learn about nutrition, exercise, stress management, and symptom management as it relates to cancer - provided by the physicians and healthcare professionals from Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Lake Pointe. The group meets the third Thursday of every other month (February, April, June, August and October) at 6p.m. at the Baylor Scott & White Cancer Center – Rowlett, located at 7501 Lakeview Parkway, Suite 120 in Rowlett.

Look Good...Feel Better is a free program that helps women look their best during cancer treatment. Experienced cosmetologists teach cancer patients beauty tips to help minimize the appearance-related side effects of chemotherapy and radiation. Good makeup application and wig or turban can bring back your former appearance or create an entirely new one.

American Cancer Society Resource Center provides support to cancer patients, their families, and caregivers, offering some of the most up to date cancer information and referrals to community resources including education materials, wigs and head coverings and more. The resource center is located at Baylor Scott & White Cancer Center, located at 7501 Lakeview Parkway, Suite 120 in Rowlett. The resource center is dedicated to helping patients before, during, and after their cancer experience. Hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.
American Heart Association CPR classes are held twice a year, once in February and once in October, at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Lake Pointe, and are open to the community for a nominal fee.

New Parent Series consists of the following three classes (Childbirth Basics, Baby Boot Camp and Breastfeeding) which are offered once a month for those delivering at The Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Lake Pointe.

Childbirth Basics helps moms prepare for delivery during this most exciting time in your life. To assist those first-time parents, we offer comprehensive childbirth classes monthly, covering such topics as stages of labor and delivery, epidurals, post partum care, breathing, relaxation and massage techniques, pain control strategies, interventions in labor, C sections and many more. Each class concludes with a tour of the OB Unit.
Baby Boot Camp covers characteristics of newborns, hospital procedures, tests and medications, breast and bottle feeding, tips for the first few weeks at home, skills lab that covers diapering, dressing, swaddling, bulb syringe and taking temperature.
Breastfeeding covers benefits for the mom and baby; getting off to a good start in the hospital, tips for the first few weeks at home, how to get help if problems arise and pumping and weaning.
