Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

In addition to the Level I Nursery, we offer a 17-bed Level II NICU for those deliveries requiring a higher level of care.

The Level II NICU allows us to provide advanced nursing care for infants born prematurely, infants with special needs, and infants who are medically compromised. This advanced level of service allows mother and baby to stay together after delivery.

The NICU combines advanced technology and trained healthcare professionals who provide tailored care for specific needs. Most babies admitted to the NICU are premature (born before 37 weeks of gestation), have a low birth weight, experienced difficulties during delivery or show signs of a problem shortly after birth. The length of time babies spend in the NICU depends on the severity of their conditions.

In addition to babies born premature or at a low birth weight, sicker full-term babies may be treated in the NICU for a variety of conditions, including anemia, jaundice, seizures, low blood sugar or breathing difficulties.
