Welcome to Baylor Scott & White Pediatrics – Las Colinas

We take care of your children from birth through 18 years of age. We understand that children aren't just small grown-ups, but are unique individuals with specific medical needs. We offer care that is tailored to meet the needs of every child. And, as pediatricians, we realize that listening—to both the patient and the parent—is a big part of diagnosis and treatment.

Baylor Scott & White Pediatrics – Las Colinas was established in 1997 as part of HealthTexas, a nonprofit physician organization affiliated with the Baylor Scott & White Health. We offer comprehensive pediatric care in a child-friendly environment for children from birth to 18 years of age—for every phase of a child's life and for every parent's peace of mind.

Our office has full laboratory and radiology services as well, which makes it easy to manage almost all of your health needs at one location. We also embrace an "open access policy" at our clinic, which means we reserve same-day appointments for established patients who are sick "today." Call today to meet one of our doctors.

Appointment Information

Making an Appointment

On your first visit, we will begin a permanent record. Please bring any medications you are taking, so that we may accurately determine the dosage and frequency. We will ask you to complete a medical history and registration form. Please bring your insurance card and try to arrive at least thirty minutes early for your first visit. If you have been under the care of another doctor, we may ask your permission to transfer some of your records.

We have three appointment categories that take up varying amounts of time:

  • Annual Exams or New Patient Visits – Plan on spending one hour including check-in time, filling out forms, and the actual physician visit
  • Follow-up Exams – Thirty minutes
  • Sick Visits- Varies depending on the illness, but plan on at least thirty minutes

Canceling an Appointment

Our appointments are confirmed by an automated service. Please listen carefully and follow the prompts to either confirm or cancel your appointment. If you later decide that you are unable to keep your appointment or you are going to be late, please call your physician’s office as soon as possible. This courtesy allows us to be of service to other patients.

Emergency Care

If you have an urgent problem, you may call your physician’s office to schedule an appointment. However, if you feel it is a life-threatening emergency, call 911. Do not delay by calling the doctor’s office first.

Prescription Refills

Our preferred method for refilling prescriptions is to have your pharmacist call our office with your name and the prescription you need to be refilled. Because we do not have access to your medical records at night or on weekends, we are unable to refill prescriptions during those times.

Confidentiality

At BSW Pediatrics - Las Colinas, we have a strict patient confidentiality policy. Your medical record is strictly private and will not be shared with your employer, friends, or relatives without your written permission.

Pediatrics

Newborn Care

The newborn check-up is usually done in the office within one to two days of leaving the hospital when your baby is 3-5 days old. This check-up is important to assess the baby’s feeding habits, assist with breastfeeding, and check for weight loss and jaundice. If all is going well, the next newborn check-up is usually at 2 weeks of age.

Immunizations

Immunization is key to preventing disease among the general population. Vaccines benefit both the people who receive them and the vulnerable, unvaccinated people around them because the infection can no longer spread through the community if most people are immunized. In addition, immunizations reduce the number of deaths and disability from infections, such as measles, whooping cough, and chickenpox.

Sports Physicals

The sports physical is known as a preparticipation physical examination. The exam helps determine whether it's safe for you to participate in a particular sport. We recommend that kids and teens have a sports physical before they start a new sport or begin a new competitive season.

Urgent Care

If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please call 911. We do not treat major emergencies, such as chest pain, stroke, seizures, difficulty breathing, overdose, etc.

Commonly treated conditions include:

  • Allergies
  • Broken bones
  • Cold and flu
