Our Junior Volunteer program gives young people the opportunity to explore careers in healthcare, as well as provide service to our hospital and patients.

Junior Volunteers have much to offer, and the program provides high school students the opportunity to learn new skills, develop new interests and make new friends. If you enjoy the satisfaction that comes from helping others and are interested in learning more about the healthcare field, you will enjoy being part of the Baylor Scott & White Junior Volunteer Program.

The Junior Volunteer Program is open to high school students who will be juniors or seniors in the fall of 2016. Students must be 16-18 years old to participate.

Program Details

Program Dates

The Junior Volunteer Program is typically held for four weeks beginning in June. Students are assigned a shift of 8 a.m. to noon or 1-5 p.m., which rotate based on department availability. If you have circumstances that require a specific shift, please notify the program at the time of your application. Students must work a minimum of one shift per day. Students need to notify the program in advance if they have conflicts with the dates of the program. Any student that does not notify the program in advance may be asked to leave the program if they have unscheduled absences.

Accepted applicants must attend a mandatory orientation for a classroom orientation and tour of the facility.

Students attend group lectures with key staff members and rotate through various areas, such as:

  • Admissions

The Adult Volunteer Program will be awarding one junior volunteer with a scholarship based on service and an essay about the volunteer experience.
