Required screening and masking

For the safety of all, approved visitors must pass a health screening, including a temperature check and wear an approved mask at all times in our facilities. Hospital visitors with an unapproved mask will be given an approved mask to wear while visiting. Unapproved masks include (but are not limited to) bandanas, masks with valves and neck gaiters.

Visiting patients and facilities (excludes COVID-19 patients)

We ask visitors to be limited to those essential for the patient’s physical or emotional well-being and care (e.g., care partner, parent). We continue to encourage the use of alternative mechanisms for patient and visitor interactions, such as video-call applications on cell phones or tablets.

Contact the specific facility and unit you will be visiting to learn more about its visitation policy as additional restrictions may apply.

COVID-19/patient under investigation (“PUI”) patients

No visitors allowed except one visitor over the age of 16 in the following circumstances:

  • Pediatric/neonatal care patient
  • Laboring/post-partum patient
  • Patient undergoing a surgery or procedure
  • Patients with difficulty understanding or making decisions (i.e., may lack capacity)
  • Patients who may be disabled or may be impaired
  • Patient receiving end-of-life care
  • As otherwise determined by local facility leadership

For end-of-life situations, the facility may allow more than one visitor, a visitor under the age of 16, or a member of the clergy. We ask visitors of a COVID-19 patient/PUI to not visit public areas of the facilities, such as the cafeteria.

Dining Options

Round Rock Cafe

Located on the first floor of the medical center near the Healing Garden, the Round Rock Cafe features a variety of dining options, including: home-cooked meals, homemade pizza and freshly packaged to-go sandwiches, salads and fruit items.

Monday through Friday
Breakfast: 6:30 to 10 a.m.
Lunch: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Snacks: 2 to 7:30 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday
Breakfast: 7 to 10 a.m.
Lunch: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

 

Gift Shop

Our gift shop is located on the first floor of the hospital near the information desk.

Visitors should check with the nurse before bringing patients food or drinks to ensure they are appropriate for the patient. In intensive care units, please check with nurses regarding any gifts.

Concierge and Information Desk

Visitor information/concierge desks are located in the main entrance of the medical center, where staff can assist you with general information, maps, notary public services and local eateries/hotel listings.

Patient Greetings

Brighten the day of a patient with an eGreeting — a personal message hand delivered to your loved one.

Visiting Hours

Regular visiting hours are 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. Visiting hours may vary in certain units. Please check with the nurse in charge.

Visitor Lounges

There are designated lounges for visitors on patient floors. Specific areas have been designated for guests in other areas. If you are in a large group, we ask for your consideration of other patients’ families when seating is limited. Wireless laptops can be used in most areas by connecting to our visitor wireless network. Charging stations and outlets are also available in select lounge areas.

The use of wireless communication devices, such as cell phones, notebooks and laptops, can interfere with medical equipment and is restricted in all patient care areas. Please restrict your use of these devices to visitor lounges and non-patient care areas.

An automated teller machine (ATM) is located on the first floor of the hospital between the gift shop and chapel.

Baylor Scott & White has established agreements with several types of insurances in an effort to make sure your health needs are covered.

Medical Records

You can request copies of your medical records by completing an Authorization for Release of Information form and returning to the facility at which you received care.

ScriptCenter® 24/7 Prescription Pick-Up Kiosk

Now there’s a quick, convenient and private way to pick up prescriptions for you and your family, even when the pharmacy is closed.

The ScriptCenter® is located in Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Round Rock hospital’s lobby between the main elevators and the cafeteria.

The kiosk may be used by any Baylor Scott & White Pharmacy patients and their family members. It’s available 24/7 and it’s a FREE service.

Cosmetic and Plastic Surgery

Cosmetic surgery includes everything from body lifts to breast augmentation to liposuction. These procedures can be nonsurgical or surgical and reshape normal structures of the body ​to improve appearance. We work with you to help determine the right procedure for you based on your unique needs and circumstances, and your privacy is always a priority.​

Reconstructive surgery is performed on parts of the body caused by congenital defects, developmental abnormalities, trauma, infection, tumors or disease. It is generally performed to improve functions but may also be done to approximate a normal appearance.

Critical and Intensive Care

Baylor Scott & White Health offers advanced care for the most serious injuries and illnesses. Our critical and intensive care teams are here to not only provide quality care for the patient, but also to offer a supportive environment for family members and loved ones.

Critical and intensive care treats a wide variety of life-threatening injuries, illnesses and heart issues. Surgical treatments and interventions, medication and life support are all offered depending on the situation.

CT Calcium Score

A CT Calcium Score is a simple and painless test which is used to identify and evaluate early stage heart disease.  The patient's chest area (heart) is scanned to identify build-up of calcium or plaque on the walls of the arteries of the heart (coronary arteries).  Calcium in the arteries is a sign of coronary artery disease (CAD). The test takes less than 10 minutes.

Patients may self-refer without a physician order as long as they meet the following criteria:

  • Males between the ages of 40-65
  • Females between the ages of 45-70
  • All patients must have at least one of the following risk factors:
    • Diabetes
    • Current Smoker
    • Obesity
    • Family history of heart disease
    • Cholesterol level greater than 160/LDL
    • Blood pressure greater than 140/90

Note: Persons who are interested in having this exam, but do not meet this criteria must present an order from a physician.

Inpatient Medicine and Hospitalists

Hospitalists, also known as inpatient medicine physicians, specialize in general medical care for hospitalized people. A hospitalist will provide care upon your hospital admission and will continue the care during your stay.
