Surgical treatments and procedures

Baylor Scott & White Surgical Institute has maintained a long-standing reputation for quality surgical care throughout the Dallas and Plano communities. Our surgeons are known for consistently offering patients comprehensive care in a comfortable and caring environment.

In an effort to offer our patients the best outcomes possible, we take an individualized approach to developing treatment plans that include minimally invasive surgical techniques where appropriate. Some of our procedures include:

  • Advanced laparoscopic surgery: Laparoscopy is a technique for doing surgery using a thin, lighted tube with a camera called a laparoscope. The scope is put through one small skin incision, and surgical tools are put through other small incisions. Many surgeries are done using this technique. Some of the more common general surgeries we perform using this method are gallbladder, hernia and abdominal surgery
  • Pancreas, liver, gastrointestinal and endocrine surgery
  • Head and neck surgery: Our surgeons perform head and neck surgeries including thyroid, parathyroid and parotid. Surgery can be an effective treatment for hyperthyroidism, malignant nodules or those that grow or cause symptoms

Conditions treated

  • Appendicitis

    The appendix is a hollow structure about the size of your little finger and opens off the colon (large bowel). The purpose of the appendix is unclear, but if it is blocked, it may become infected. Your side may hurt so much that you called your doctor or when straight to the emergency room. If the symptoms came on quickly, you may have appendicitis.

  • Breast cancer

    Having breast cancer means that some cells in your breast are growing abnormally. Learning about the different types and stages of breast cancer can help you take an active role in your treatment.

  • Colon cancer

    Cancer occurs when cells in the body begin changing and multiplying out of control. These cells can form lumps of tissue called tumors. Cancer that forms in the colon is called colon cancer.

  • Gallbladder disease

    Also referred to as cholecystitis is an inflammation of the gallbladder wall and nearby abdominal lining. Cholecystitis is usually caused by a gallstone in the cystic duct which connects the gallbladder to the hepatic duct.

  • Hernia

    A hernia (or rupture) is a weakness or defect in the wall of the abdomen. This weakness may be present at birth or it can be caused by the wear and tear of daily living. If left untreated, a hernia can get worse with time and physical distress.

  • Pancreas disorders

    Many disorders of the pancreas require clinical care by a physician or other healthcare professional. Some of the more common disorders include pancreatitis, pancreatic cancer and cystic fibrosis.

  • Thyroid disorders

    Many disorders of the thyroid require clinical care by a physician or other healthcare professional.

  • Pay by mail

    To ensure that your payment is correctly applied to your account, detach the slip from your Baylor Scott & White billing statement and return the slip with your payment. If paying by check or money order, include your account number on the check or money order.

    Please mail the payment to the address listed on your statement.

  • Pay by phone

    Payments to HTPN can be made over the phone with our automated phone payment system 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All payments made via the automated phone payment system will post the next business day. Please call 1.866.377.1650.

    If you need to speak to someone about a bill from a Baylor Scott & White Hospital, our Customer Service department is available to take payments over the phone from Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM and can be reached at 1.800.994.0371.

  • Pay in person

    Payments can be made in person at the facility where you received services.
