Comprehensive Care Options
We understand that because every patient's cancer is unique, so are his or her cancer treatment needs. That is why every cancer treatment is personalized to each patient and developed with the help of a multidisciplinary team of specialists and clinicians, and includes the patient and his or her family every step of the way.
We are proud to feature cancer surgeons on our medical staff who have developed pioneering and innovative surgical approaches, including minimally invasive techniques, as well as procedures that can be performed through the belly button to hide the incision.
While the surgical techniques and approaches are numerous, the goal is to remove cancerous cells and tumors, while minimizing side-effects and the appearance of scars as much as possible. We also have a highly skilled plastic and reconstructive surgery team to restore appearance if necessary.
The board-certified radiation specialists on our medical staff have several types of radiation therapy technologies to select the most appropriate treatment option, including technologies that may reduce treatment times from six weeks to as little as five days depending on the cancer. Our team combines extensive experience and research with these advanced tools to precisely target and treat tumors, sparing surrounding healthy tissue and decreasing side effects.
Our radiation therapy program has system-wide accreditation by the American College of Radiology, which distinguishes us as the hospital-based cancer system in Central Texas to enjoy this designation.
Given the high number of cancer cases our center treats, the medical cancer specialists on our medical staff have vast experience in determining the appropriate course of chemotherapy and other IV-based medication treatments depending on each patient's needs.
Our infusion center allows patients privacy during treatment or the ability to socialize with other cancer patients receiving infusions at the same time.
Easing the Cancer Care Journey
In addition to advanced care for a full range of cancers, our center has a number of features to make the cancer treatment process easier for patients and their families.
One Location. One Electronic Health Record: Cancer care often involves many specialists. Our center houses all the specialists and tools needed to diagnose and treat cancer on a single campus, connected by a single electronic health record, which paves the way for a smoother, more convenient care experience.
Patient Navigation: Our patient navigators guide patients and their families through the often complex journey and decisions associated with treating cancer. They handle logistical and administrative details large and small, allowing patients and families to focus on healing. Navigators are invaluable at helping coordinate care, educating patients and loved ones about their cancer diagnosis and what to expect, and helping find support resources and even clinical trials if necessary. They are a key resource providing education and answer questions about the cancer care process and what to expect.
Additional Program Features:
Support: We can connect patients and families with many types of support programs and initiatives both at the center and outside the center.
Genetic Screening: Many cancers have a genetic component. We provide familial cancer risk assessments and help formulate plans for cancer prevention, screening and monitoring.
High Risk Breast Clinic: We have a special prevention and detection program for women at high risk of developing breast cancer.
Financial Counseling: The insurance process can be complicated. We have financial counseling available to help patients determine their coverage and make financial arrangements.
Clinical Trials: As part of one of the 10 largest health care systems in the nation, we are either participating in – or can connect patients in need with – some of the world's most promising clinical trials for many different types of cancer.
