Treating heart disease, before it happens

As an award-winning cardiovascular treatment institution, Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital – Plano has been known for more than a decade for its advanced surgical treatment of heart conditions and delivery of quality care.

Now, we are evolving to manage heart disease before it requires treatment. The practice of preventive cardiology is now considered a specialty within cardiovascular medicine and is a critical piece of our spectrum of heart care. Our Center specializes in a prevention-as-treatment philosophy that focuses on identifying and managing warning signs or symptoms of heart disease before they become serious or life-threatening.

Stopping heart disease
in its tracks

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States. Rather than treating the disease after it’s become a problem, our focus is on managing the entire cardiovascular system to prevent heart disease from occurring in the first place. • High blood pressure
  • High cholesterol, including familial hypercholesterolemia

  • Metabolic syndrome
  • Obesity

  • Diabetes mellitus
  • Coronary artery calcification
