Hand and Wrist

Baylor Scott & White Southwest Sports Medicine and Orthopedics treats diseases and injuries that cause pain and impair the strength, function and flexibility of hands, wrists and fingers. We treat:

  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Dupuytren’s contracture (a disabling hand disorder in which thick, scar-like tissue bands form within the palm and may extend into the fingers)
  • Other problems including complex total elbow replacement

Southwest Sports also offers an extensive hand therapy program where specially trained occupational therapists help hand surgery patients regain strength and range of motion.​

Joint Replacement

Saturday Morning Sports Clinic

Our blue-ribbon team of sports medicine specialists is here to provide care for any acute or chronic orthopedic sports injury. Staffed by our board-certified, fellowship-trained sports medicine orthopedic surgeons, our Saturday Morning Sports Clinic provides student athletes quick access for injury assessment and treatment recommendations. Shoulders

Southwest Sports Medicine Non-surgical shoulder specialists perform in-depth evaluations and use advanced imaging studies when necessary to determine the underlying cause of your shoulder injury. Most injuries can be treated conservatively by nonsurgical procedures. Team Physician Program

Senior staff and resident physicians provide on-site care for sports injuries for area sports teams.
Many of our board-certified, fellowship-trained sports medicine orthopedists served as team physicians for Baylor Athletics. Now they’re serving area youth.
Working on the field and in the locker rooms, our team physicians have as their goal the health, safety Team Physician Program
Senior staff and resident physicians provide on-site care for sports injuries for area sports teams.

Services Provided

  • Assess game-day injuries on-site
  • Provide on-site medical care for injured athlete
  • Make decision whether athlete may return to play
  • Coordinate any further necessary care for injured athlete
  • Coordinate rehabilitation and return to play
  • Work with athletic trainers to provide additional training and medical expertise

  • Potential medical problems that could affect performance
  • Provide proper documentation and medical record keeping
