Volunteering at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – White Rock will give you an opportunity to make a difference in health care. Whether you have lots of time or little, we can find an outlet for you to use your talents and contribute.
Volunteer Program Details
All volunteers are chosen through a comprehensive screening and interview process to assure our high standards are met. Traditional adult volunteers are asked to commit a minimum of one four hour shift each week for a minimum of one year of service. You will find that most volunteer opportunities are available during the day on weekdays. The evening and weekends are very limited. Adult volunteers must be 18 years or older. Each volunteer will receive a complimentary polo shirt, complimentary parking, and a complimentary meal (up to $6.50 & only once a day). We provide volunteer opportunities in a number of areas including:
Administrative and Clerical Opportunities – detailed-oriented volunteers may lend a hand in any one of the hospital's departments that will include filing, copying, data entry, mail processing and distribution, bulk mailings, telephone and reception duties and file maintenance.
Patient Support Services – volunteers may offer patients spiritual comfort, or reassurance about forthcoming surgery or procedure, or maybe just a friendly social visit.
Patient Waiting Areas – volunteers will assist with keeping family and visitors informed of their loved one by giving updates when requested or delivered from clinical staff. Volunteers also keep the area tidy and well stocked with coffee and hot chocolate.
Patient Information Duties – volunteers assist visitors and callers seeking patient information, often being the first face or voice to greet those seeking such help. Volunteers may also escort those to their destination quickly and with a smile.
Special Projects Activities – volunteers may share a special talent or skill through unique opportunities, events or groups as they share from their hearts and add a special layer of caring and friendliness to our hospital.
Our volunteer program includes an exceptional group of individuals, and we would love for you to join us. We will strive to find an area of the hospital that best combines your talents, interests and skills with the overall needs of our guests.
