Making An Appointment
On your first visit, we will begin a permanent record. Please bring any medications you are taking, so that we may accurately determine the dosage and frequency. We will ask you to complete a medical history and registration form. Please bring your insurance card and try to arrive at least thirty minutes early for your first visit. If you have been under the care of another doctor, we may ask your permission to transfer some of your records.
We would like to remind you that our physicians are obstetrical specialists and there may be occasions where they will be called away to perform deliveries. We may have to contact you to reschedule or delay your appointment time, or you may be asked to see the other physician. Your patience is appreciated on behalf of our staff and the expectant mothers. We realize that your time is also very valuable, and we will try to accommodate your schedule.
Canceling An Appointment
Our appointments are confirmed by an automated service. Please listen carefully and follow the prompts to either confirm or cancel your appointment. If you later decide that you are unable to keep your appointment or you are going to be late, please call your physician’s office as soon as possible. This courtesy allows us to be of service to other patients.
Although the physicians would prefer to answer your call personally, this may not be possible. Our staff has been trained to answer most questions; please try to explain your needs and problems to them as accurately as you can.
Emergency calls, like bleeding and labor, are returned immediately. Calls that the physician must return personally will be usually made during lunch or after business hours, so please leave an appropriate call back number. Non-emergency calls received after 3:00 p.m. may not be returned until the following business day. If you feel it is a life threatening emergency, call 911. Do not delay by calling the doctor's office first.
The physicians are on-call 24 hours a day on a rotating basis; they would appreciate having any medical advice questions, prescription refills, and non-urgent problems be handled during business hours.
Our preferred method for refilling prescriptions is to have your pharmacist call our office with your name and the prescription you need to be refilled. Because we do not have access to your medical records at night or on the weekends, we are unable to refill prescriptions during those times.
At BSW Women's Health Group, we have a strict patient confidentiality policy. Your medical record is strictly private and will not be shared with your employer, friends, or relatives without your written permission.
