Li Sun, MD

Dr. Sun joined Baylor Scott & White Health in 2018 after serving as a primary care physician at Slidell Memorial Hospital in Slidell, LA, between 2014-2018. She also worked as a research scientist in the department of Pathology at the University of Texas-MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, the department of Pharmacological and Pharmaceutical Science at the University of Houston and the department of Neuroscience at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in Jacksonville, FL, before her residency in New York. Dr. Sun earned her PhD degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in Peking Union Medical College and Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences in 2004. During her years in the biological field, she published several peer-reviewed papers related to Alzheimer's dementia, strokes and breast cancer. Dr. Sun enjoys being a primary physician because it allows her the privilege of caring for people and their families over their lifetime. "Our healthcare system is changing, but I believe the doctor-patient relationship still remains the cornerstone of medicine. I love the beauty of taking care of patients as an individual." One of the things she enjoys most about practicing medicine is the chance to work with and get to know the healthcare team: patients, staff, nurses, social workers and physician colleagues. Dr. Sun believes the best care is delivered when the team works together to make decisions, delivers care and supports patients to make healthy lifestyle choices.
