Paul Alan Smith, DO

Dr. Smith is board certified in Family Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, and Hospice and Palliative Medicine. He graduated from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2007. He completed his Family Medicine Residency and Geriatric Medicine Fellowship at Texas Tech University-Amarillo (TTU) in 2010 and 2011 respectively and served as a co-chief resident in 2010. While there, he helped developed a resident top-10 evidence-based clinical approach to care and was instrumental in the growth of research within the department. He worked with the National Health Service Corps, HealthReach Health Care for the Homeless in Rochester, NY, from 2011 through 2014 and completed his Fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Care in 2015 at the University of Rochester. Dr. Smith returned to Texas in 2015 to be closer to his family, and at that time, he joined the team at Baylor Scott & White Health. He currently serves as an Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine. Dr. Smith is also a member of the ethics committee at Baylor Scott & White. He is an active member of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, as well as the American Academy of Family Physicians. He is a proud father and husband, with two sons and a lovely daughter.
