Our patient-centered focus and quality care are sustained through the compassion and dedication displayed by our tireless team of nurses and other staff members, as well as the physicians on our medical staff. We are proud to announce the hospital has been recognized four times by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) for the Magnet® Recognition Program.
Just 452 US healthcare organizations out of more than 6,300 U.S. hospitals have achieved Magnet recognition, and approximately 34% of the Magnet-recognized organizations that have attempted three or more designations have been successful.

Press Ganey HX Guardian of Excellence Award®
Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital is a 2022 Press Ganey HX Guardian of Excellence Award® winner. This accolade represents the hospital's leadership, providing more human-centric care experiences by identifying what patients need most and pivoting quickly. Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital ranks in the 95th percentile in patient experience amongst other healthcare facilities across the nation.
Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) 3-Star Rating
Cardiac surgery performed at Baylor University Medical Center received 3-Stars—the highest possible rating—for isolated coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) procedures. As a consistently high-performing program, this recent recognition ranks Baylor University Medical Center in the top 10% in the nation by STS for July 1, 2019 - June 30, 2022. In addition to a 3-Star overall rating, the program received 3-Stars in all rated domains, including absence of mortality, absence of morbidity, use of IMA (internal mammary artery), and medications.
Leapfrog Group "A" for Patient Safety in Spring 2023
Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital – Dallas received its sixteenth consecutive “A” grade. The Leapfrog Group, a nonprofit organization committed to driving quality, safety and transparency in the US healthcare system, assigned the “A” rating for the hospital’s commitment to reducing errors, infections and accidents that can harm patients. According to the Leapfrog Group’s information, “Hospitals that earn top marks nationally in the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade have achieved the highest safety standards in the country.”
Healthgrades 2023 Patient Safety Excellence Award™
Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital – Dallas has been recognized by Healthgrades as a 2023 Patient Safety Excellence Award™ recipient for the third consecutive year. This distinction places Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital – Dallas among the top 5% of all short-term acute care hospitals as evaluated by Healthgrades, the leading marketplace connecting patients and providers.
Women’s Choice Award – America’s Best Hospital for Patient Safety and Heart Care
Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital has been named 2023's 100 Best Hospitals for Patient Experience by the Women’s Choice Award®, America’s trusted referral source for the best in healthcare. The hospital has also been named one of America’s Best Hospitals for Patient Safety and Heart Care. The award signifies that the hospital is in the top 1% of 4,728 US hospitals offering heart care and for patient safety in safe surgery practices and lower rates for complications and infections.
Magnet Award for "Excellence in Nursing Services"
Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital – Dallas has been recognized for nursing excellence and outstanding patient care with the fourth consecutive ANCC Magnet Recognition®, an international distinction for excellence in nursing services from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). This award acknowledges the patient-centered focus and quality care delivered by our nurses, physicians on our medical staff and other staff members—a recognition given to only 2% of the hospitals in the United States. In addition to the designation, appraisers noted a total of 12 exemplary efforts. Nurses throughout Magnet® recognized organizations are involved in Shared Governance through several formalized councils and committees.
Fortune and IBM Watson Health's 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals 2022
Baylor University Medical Center, together with Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital - Dallas, has earned a coveted spot among the "50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals 2022," according to Fortune and IBM Watson Health. Other Baylor Scott & White hospitals named among the top-performing in the US include Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Temple, Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Hillcrest in Waco and Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital – Plano.
The annual Fortune/IBM 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals study spotlights leading short-term, acute care, non-federal U.S. hospitals that treat a broad spectrum of cardiology patients. The study is designed to identify impartial, actionable and attainable benchmarks for hospital and clinical leaders as they work to raise their own organizations' standards of performance in cardiac care.
Newsweek's World's Best Specialized Hospitals
Baylor University Medical Center, together with Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital - Dallas, was recognized for cardiovascular care on the Dallas campus. The Baylor University Medical Center Department of Cardiology ranked 44 on the international list for heart care. In addition to this ranking, the Baylor University Medical Center cardiac surgery program ranked 50 for cardiac surgery.
The World's Best Specialized Hospitals 2022 ranks the best hospitals in ten medical fields across the world by surveying tens of thousands of medical professionals (doctors, other healthcare professionals and hospital managers) from across the globe in their field of expertise. This distinction places Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital – Dallas among our Nation’s top 10% of hospitals evaluated by Healthgrades, the leading resource that connects consumers, physicians and health systems. Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular – Dallas also received 5-Stars for Coronary Interventional Procedures, Treatment of Heart Attack and Pacemaker Procedures for the second consecutive year.
Mission Lifeline
The hospital received Gold-Plus recognitions as a STEMI Receiving Center and Gold for NSTEMI care, as outlined by the American Heart Association’s quality indicators for patients who have had a severe heart attack. The hospital met specific criteria and standards of performance for quick and appropriate treatment of patients by providing emergency procedures to re-establish blood flow to blocked arteries when needed.
Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) 5-Star Quality Rating
Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital once again received a 5-Star rating in the most recent Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Hospital Compare website listing. Five stars is the highest attainable rating in the report. CMS created the 5-Star Quality Rating System to help consumers, their families and caregivers compare nursing healthcare organizations more easily and to help identify areas where patients and families might wish to ask questions.
Joint Commission Accreditation 2023
Joint Commission standards address the organization's level of performance in key functional areas, such as patient rights, patient treatment and infection control. The standards focus not simply on an organization's ability to provide safe, high-quality care, but on its actual performance as well. Standards set forth performance expectations for activities that affect the safety and quality of patient care.
Highest star rating from the 2020 Vascular Quality Initiative (VQI) Participation Awards
Announced in March 2020, through the participation of the Vascular Quality Initiative®, Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital – Dallas received the 2019 VQI Participation Award with a 3-Star rating, the highest “star rating” from the VQI. This is the fourth consecutive year the hospital has received 3-Star recognition.
Highest star rating from the 2021 Vascular Quality Initiative (VQI) Participation Awards
Highest star rating from the 2022 Vascular Quality Initiative (VQI) Participation Awards Announced in April 2022, through the participation of the Vascular Quality Initiative® Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital – Dallas received the 2022 VQI Participation Award with a 3-Star rating, the highest “star rating” from the VQI. This is the sixth consecutive year the hospital has received 3-Star recognition.
Gold Seal Accreditation by the American College of Radiology (ACR)
The cardiac magnetic resonance imaging program and the cardiac computed tomography program at Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital – Dallas were awarded Gold Seal Accreditation by the American College of Radiology. The MRI Accreditation Program evaluates staff qualifications, quality control, MR safety policies and image quality. Similarly, the CT Accreditation Program evaluates imaging services’ quality and patient safety.
Accreditation of Echocardiography and Vascular Testing from the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC)
The IAC grants accreditation only to facilities that provide quality patient care, in compliance with national standards through a comprehensive application process, including detailed case study review. Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital – Dallas is accredited in both echocardiography and vascular testing by the IAC.
American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) Certified
Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital – Dallas and Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital – Fort Worth received a three-year certification for their cardiac rehab programs. AACVPR Program Certification is the only peer-reviewed accreditation process designed to review individual programs for adherence to standards and guidelines developed and published by AACVPR and other professional societies. AACVPR-certified programs are recognized as leaders in the field of cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation because they offer the most advanced practices available.
American College of Cardiology’s NCDR Chest Pain – MI Registry Silver Performance Achievement Award
Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital – Dallas has demonstrated sustained achievement in the Chest Pain MI Registry for two consecutive years (2018 and 2019) and performed at the highest level for specific performance measures to receive this 2020 award.
