Dr. Cara East's new book
Congratulations to Cara East, MD, FACP, FAPCR, on her new book titled Developing a Successful Clinical Research Program based on her experience leading the Soltero Cardiovascular Research. Beth Soltero hosted a book signing at the Soltero office on Oct. 19, 2018. Patients involved in some of her clinical trials, as well as fellow providers and family friends attended the event.
Medical Director Appointed Associate Editor of an ACC Journal
Paul Grayburn, MD, FACC, Medical Director, Non-Invasive Cardiology – Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital – Dallas; Medical Director, Cardiology Research and Education – Baylor University Medical Center, was recently appointed by the American College of Cardiology (ACC) as an associate editor for the Journal of the American College of Cardiology: Cardiovascular Imaging. This prestigious appointment is the latest in Dr. Grayburn’s list of journal-related involvement as he is an associate editor for American Journal of Cardiology as well as Structural Heart: Journal of the Heart Team.
Dr. Grayburn has published more than 400 manuscripts or book chapters in peer-reviewed journals. He has served in leadership roles in several multicenter trials (BEST, STICH, EVEREST II, COAPT, CTSN, Apollo) and directs an echocardiographic core laboratory for clinical trials in valvular heart disease. Dr. Grayburn is also a Clinical Professor of Medicine at Texas A&M University.
Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital is one of three Baylor Scott & White Health locations currently serving as a study site for system's participation in a landmark precision medicine study – the All of Us Research Program. All of Us is the largest study ever executed in the United States by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), with a goal of enrolling 1 million participants across the country.
Baylor Scott & White is currently the only healthcare provider in Texas enrolling participants in the study and will receive a total of $14 million in funding from NIH over five years. The system is collaborating through a consortium that includes Baylor Scott & White, Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, Essentia Health headquartered in Minnesota, Spectrum Health in Michigan and University of Massachusetts Medical School.
