Soltero Cardiovascular Research Center

Nationally recognized for conducting high-quality studies on cardiovascular problems, medications and surgical procedures

Soltero Cardiovascular Research Center (SCRC) was formed in 1987. The program, led by Cara East, MD, adds a portfolio of focused cardiology studies to the research program at Baylor Scott & White Research Institute. SCRC studies have focused on cardiovascular problems caused by:

  • Diabetes
  • Arteries hardening
  • High blood pressure
  • Increased levels of lipoprotein molecules in the blood

The Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Institute was established in 1993 to promote cardiovascular research and education to prevent and treat heart and vascular disease. Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Institute is part of Baylor University Medical Center and does not provide a referral service.

BSWRI conducts research across more than 50 specialty areas through a dedicated network of research team members embedded at dedicated research centers, hospitals and clinics throughout the Baylor Scott & White Health system.

BSWRI’s cardiovascular research efforts are regularly included in medical journal publications and presented at medical conferences.
