Before bringing or sending a gift

If you’re visiting a patient and plan to bring or send a gift, please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  • If you’re bringing or sending a gift to a patient in the intensive care unit (ICU), please check with the nursing staff first to make sure it is appropriate.  
  • Live flowers and plants are not permitted for patients with medical conditions that increase their risk of infection.  
  • If you’re bringing food or drinks for a patient, please check with the nurse first to make sure they are appropriate.
