Biography
Dr. Ylitalo is a general urologist practicing all aspects of male and female urology. He received his Bachelor of Science from Baylor University while majoring in Chemistry with minors in Mathematics, Biology, and Medical Humanities. He completed his medical degree at the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth before completing his residency in Urology at Michigan State University at the Detroit Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident. He is a Fellow of both the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons. Dr. Ylitalo is board certified in Urology by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery. His passion for Urology has led to multiple publications and presentations throughout his career. He has received the Michigan Chapter of the American College of Surgeons Ethics Award and has been named a “Top Doc” by Texas Monthly Magazine since 2017. He teaches a vasectomy clinic to the Waco Family Medicine residents and is involved in teaching undergraduate students in medical device design and clinical medicine courses through a collaboration with Baylor. Dr. Ylitalo is married to Kelly Ylitalo, PhD, who is a tenured professor at Baylor University, specializing in chronic disease epidemiology. They have two children, Edison and Eleanor. His interests include traveling, Baylor University sporting events, and spending time with his family.
