Biography

Dr. Gaona is from Frisco, Texas, and is a proud graduate of Frisco High School. He attended Texas A&M University where he graduated magna cum laude. He majored in biomedical engineering with two minors in math and Spanish. Dr. Gaona then gained entry to  The University of Texas Health Science  Center at San Antonio Medical School where he graduated valedictorian.


After graduation, Dr. Gaona returned home  to train at Baylor University Medical Center,  part of Baylor Scott & White Health. While there, he was honored with the Intern of the Year award, Trauma Resident of the Year award and Chief of the Year award. Dr. Gaona’s combined background in biomedical engineering, medicine, and robotics training allows him to provide high quality open, laparoscopic, and robotic-assisted surgical care to our community here in Frisco, where  he lives here with his growing family.

Dr. Gaona was recognized by D Magazine as a "Best Doctor in Collin County" for 2026.
