Dan M. Meyer, MD specializes in minimally invasive surgery for mitral and aortic valve disease, surgical treatment for congestive heart failure, including LVAD implantation and heart transplantation. Additionally, his clinical expertise includes thoracoscopic surgery, including sympathectomy for hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating).
Dr. Meyer received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of California, Los Angeles and completed residencies in general, thoracic and cardiovascular surgery at UT Southwestern affiliated hospitals. In addition, he was selected for an advanced fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.
Dr. Meyer conducts research related to mechanical circulatory support devices, including biventricular support, LVAD and extracorporeal life support (ECMO). He serves as a panel member on the FDA panel for Circulatory System Devices. He also conducts research on thoracic organ allocation for transplantation. Dr. Meyer serves as Chief of Advanced Circulatory Support and vice chair of Cardiac Transplantation at Baylor University Medical Center.
He brings more than 25 years of experience as a cardiothoracic surgeon and a wealth of knowledge and skill to each patient case he reviews. He believes in providing patients and their families with all options for care and working together to develop a comprehensive treatment plan.
When he is not caring for patients, Dr. Meyer enjoys running and training for races, writing, water sports and spending time with his family.
