Dr. Impens has always enjoyed problem-solving and connecting with people, and medicine felt like the right mix of both. Over time, he realized how rewarding it is to support people through big decisions and help them feel more confident and cared for in moments that really matter. What he loves about geriatrics is the focus on what’s actually important to each person. It’s not about fixing every issue—it’s about understanding someone’s priorities and making care fit them -- not the other way around. He is especially passionate about having honest, thoughtful conversations about goals of care and helping people feel at peace with their choices. Outside of work, Dr. Impens loves traveling, spending time with his family and trying new foods. He also gets a lot of joy from simple DIY projects around the house.
