The Dr. was rude, and uninformative. He never introduced himself to either me or my daughter. He never asked if I had any questions or concerns, just told me I was too old for surgery.

he never took the time to look at my record to determine any other factor that contributed to my diagnosis of fractured L4 and L5 with impingement of nerve other than my weight. his words to me were, " I am hesitant to perform this sx. dt the fact that it may happen again dt your weight." it did not happen because I am fat. it happen because I have a lot of history of heavy steroid use dt asthma with no vitamin d or calcium added to my diet because no one told me to for the past 20 years. nor did I have a bone density exam until while on said steroids...just poor medical management. nor did he see hat my thyroid levels have been messed up for years and I was suppose to see an endocrinologist, which I have not. but those two things also contribute to my bone loss. I also have a history of three accidents in nine moths that left me herniated and bulging discs in my back and i was told that one of those disc was sitting one a nerve. I have had that nerve pain for years. I had also gone into the ER per my doctors instructions because when I stood up during the night I twisted my leg and felt something shift and since then the nerve pain in my left leg has gotten so bad I want to cut it off. the ER Doctor referred me to this doctor.I will never go back to him even if he and I are the only two living people on earth.

I was told by the doctor "I can\'t help you and don\'t reccomend surgery". Drove from Houston and paid $326 for that visit that was absolutely no help. It was the biggest waste of my time and all I was told was that I could be referred to back pain management or physical therapy. I was also told that neurosurgery should be the last option for my case and that was where I was referred first. Could have saved me a lot of money if that is truly the case. I would not recommend anyone to this practice.

Incredibly poor provider. Essentially repeated "you\'re complicated, I don\'t feel comfortable doing a fusion on you" throughout appointment, never mind that I did not ask for or necessarily want a fusion. I asked him about multiple other options and he did not answer those questions, just kept repeating the above phrase & trying to leave the room. Told me to go to Temple & get another opinion; when I asked him if there was a provider there that he would recommend, he just shrugged his shoulders. Worthless & pointless. Had a very similar experience with him >5 years ago for a different spinal problem & area, and he also offered nothing then & kept the appointment as short as possible. If he has not even had a suggestion of something to try or someone to see for two different spinal problems and areas, it makes me seriously question what he is doing, is capable of doing, why he\'s practicing, etc.

Dr El Nihum is an excellent surgeon but main thing he stresses is weight loss which is important. I am very active and don\'t have thyroid problems but take many medications for depression, anxiety, and mood that causes me to gain weight. I knew he was going to do that lecture but I was in er 3 times within the month that I had to wait to see him bc I couldn\'t walk 10 ft to the restroom or get off my bed. I can\'t excercise bc of the pain so all I can do is try to maintain or stop taking other meds that I need to avoid attempts of suicide as I have tried. So, I am getting injections that are causing diabetes to bounce all over bc that\'s my only option to keep moving.
