Karen Smith, MD

Dr. Karen Smith is a board-certified family medicine physician with an interest in preventive care, heart disease, cancer and disease prevention, mental health, cross-cultural healthcare, pediatrics/adolescents, newborn family care, orthopedics and women's healthcare, with office procedures such as IUD insertion. She also treats ADHD in children and is a provider in Baylor Scott & White’s concussion management program.

Dr. Smith is a member of the American Academy of Family Practice, the Texas Academy of Family Practice, the American Medical Association and the Texas Medical Association. In addition, she is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. She is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.


Dr. Smith is a mother of five and former bilingual educator who became a family doctor to be able to help more people. She loves taking care of patients from the cradle to the nursing home with a holistic approach. Dr. Smith believes in supporting patients' mental health, family situation and work stresses, as well as treating their bodies. A former hospitalist, she quickly recognizes patients with emergencies when they come to clinic.

On her days off, you will find Dr. Smith on a medical mission trip, hanging out with her family or volunteering in her community.
