Biography
Karen Valdez, MD made the decision to pursue a career in health care because of the pride she takes in the acts of service to others. She enjoys geriatric psychiatry because of the contact with both patients and their spouses, adult sons, and daughters. She specializes in educating both patients and families about the importance of non- pharmacological interventions for mental health care. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family, cooking, and painting. Dr. Valdez has been recognized as a Top Doc 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026 by Austin Monthly Magazine. Winners are nominated by their peers as among the best in their region/nation in their medical specialty.
