He was thoughtful and we discussed our both sides of a possible condition. I do think everybody does not necessarily need to fit into a box of "normal" to be healthy. I have deep concerns over taking medication to match the numbers. It is like putting a round peg into a square hole. I prefer to know how I may take inventory over my deficiencies of not matching the range as knowing what my body is telling me. There may be a valid reason (that is healthy) for me LDL might be actually healthy for me versus taking a med to simply make my body conform disregarding my unique chemistry. He kindly listened and I applaud his open dialogue. I prefer to address my issues with dietary changes or other options. Red yeast rice is a better alternative for lowering LDL but it also removes valuable minerals from my body. So, in discussing what my other doctors considered appropriate because of the ITP condition, the liver specialist told me it was a side affect of the liver ti produce more LDL. Also, I do not eat sugar or many carbs, so the LDL may be transmitting needed nutrients to my cells as glucose is not pumped into my cells inhibiting the LDL to do its job. The LDL dies not oxidize if it is providing nutrients to my body. This is my take on the situation. I will honor his dietary guidelines and I choose organic foods overall. Dr. Bray is kind and considerate, concerned with my overall wellness. I agree with him. I just use a different approach. I am glad we can have open discussion, and I appreciate him. | |
