Biography
Dr. Randall McCafferty is a neurological surgeon whose clinical interests include spinal cord injuries, spinal tumors, traumatic brain injuries and minimally invasive spine procedures. Dr. McCafferty achieves success, approaching each patient’s unique needs by leveraging evidence-based, advanced technologies and procedures. Dr. Randall McCafferty is a nationally recognized, academically respected and clinically established surgeon. As a result of years of experience, he uses a patient-focused, team-based approach which has been clinically proven to generate the best patient outcomes.
After serving 30 years in the United States Air Force (USAF), and multiple military and humanitarian deployments, Dr. McCafferty recently retired as a Colonel. Much of his military career focused on the care of men and women in uniform, retirees, and their families. During this time, he also held numerous leadership positions to include Chief of Neurosurgery, Chief of Medical staff (at the USAF’s largest hospital) and Director of Joint Combat Casualty Research. He was honored throughout his service with several awards and medals, his favorite being the Air Force “Surgeon of the Year” for distinction in clinical care. Dr. McCafferty is widely considered a subject-matter expert on spinal cord injury and brain trauma for the Department of Defense. He is the author of numerous neurosurgery publications for best practices and has taught extensively both in the US and internationally. He remains dedicated to military and humanitarian neurotrauma efforts, while having extensive civilian practice exposure serving as a locums physician across the country.
