Biography
Dr. Jhavar has been a radiation oncologist for almost 15 years. He completed a residency in radiation oncology and a fellowship from the Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai, India. He has spent the last 15 years completing a PhD from London University and doing cancer research in such prestigious institutions as the Medical Research Council, UK and National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD.
Dr. Jhavar is board certified in radiation oncology by the American Board of Radiology. He has published in renowned journals, like Nature, Lancet Oncology, Nature Genetics, the British Journal of Cancer and Journal of Clinical Pathology, to name a few. Dr. Jhavar is an investigator/co-investigator/sub-investigator for several research councils, including the SWOG Study Chair.
Dr. Jhavar specializes in treating prostate cancer uses carefully targeted, high-doses of radiation energy to destroy or damage cancer cells. His expertise includes conformal radiation therapy (CRT), intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) and high-dose rate (HDR) and low-dose rate (LDR) brachytherapy.
As an adjunct assistant professor in the College of Medicine, Texas A&M University, Dr. Jhavar instructs medical students, residents and fellows. He is a member of several organizations, including the American Board of Radiology and the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology.
