Sheetal Mihir Patel, MD

Dr. Patel received her medical degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. She completed her residency training in General Surgery at the University of Illinois Metropolitan Group Hospitals in Chicago, Il. She received further specialized training at Cleveland Clinic Florida where she completed the Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery fellowship program. Dr. Patel is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, and the Texas Medical Association. Dr. Patel has been published in multiple medical journals including Surgery for Obesity and Related Diseases, Obesity Surgery, Bariatric Times and Contemporary Surgery. She has also presented numerous research studies at the American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. Dr. Patel is a specialist in minimally invasive (laparoscopic) and robotic surgery for obesity and metabolic syndrome. She robotic technology to perform robotic weight loss procedures and foregut surgery (hiatal/paraesophageal hernias), and she uses single-site robotic technology for the removal of the gallbladder. She also performs various general surgical procedures using minimally invasive techniques.
