Biography

Steven M. Schatz, MD, began his medical career at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Miami, Florida. He then moved to Dallas, Texas to complete his internship and residency at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas (BUMC) where he pursued his passion for surgery. Dr. Schatz's belief in making the surgical experience of patients more pleasant, less painful and having a better cosmetic outcome led him to concentrate in advanced laparoscopic procedures including robotic surgery. His other professional interests include anti-reflux surgery, biliary tract disease, GI tumors, complex hernia repair, endocrine surgery, and venous access. In his spare time he enjoys playing golf, attending sporting events, and spending time with his family.


Dr. Schatz was nominated for D Magazine's Best Docs in 2023.

Dr. Schatz has been named a Best Doctor in Collin County from 2021-2026.
