William Alfred Smith, MD

Dr. Smith was part of the General Surgery Internship program at UT Southwestern Medical Center where he also conducted his residency in the department of Urology. Beyond his educational experience, Dr. Smith is currently a part of the American Urological Association, as well as a former member of the American Medical Association and the Student National Medical Association. Over the years, Dr. Smith has developed an interest in the use of robotics in urology-related procedures. He also specializes in trauma/reconstruction, endourology, oncology, treating kidney stones and female urology. Additionally, Dr. Smith has been a participant in national and international urologic meetings and published in a number of peer-reviewed articles. Dr. Smith also works at the kidney stone clinic in Irving. The clinic aims to help those who are suffering from kidney stones or who have recurrent kidney stones. The clinic combines urology and nephrology to offer comprehensive and integrated support for those suffering from kidney stones. A gifted athlete and a former member of the USA Track & Field Olympic Development Team, Dr. Smith spends his time outside of the Irving Clinic at his philanthropic organization, the WA Smith Foundation, as well as playing tennis, piano and running track and field. Dr. Smith also enjoys church ministry and spending his time with his wife and two daughters.
