Brent Alan Lang, PhD

Dr. Brent Lang is a clinical psychologist in family medicine at Baylor Scott & White Clinic – Waco (on Fish Pond Road).  He specializes in health psychology – specifically the point at which mental and physical health conditions intersect.  Dr. Lang helps patients experience symptomatic and functional improvements through a variety of treatments based on empirically supported evidence proven through scientific data and research.  His professional interests include acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, cognitive processing therapy, exposure and response prevention, mindfulness, social skills training, suicide risk assessment, and substance abuse disorder treatment, among others.


Dr. Lang is extensively trained in cognitive processing therapy and prolonged exposure therapy.  He also has extensive experience as a teacher and researcher and keeps up with the latest psychological research to ensure that his patients receive the best-available treatments.  His psychological research has been published in peer-reviewed journals, and he serves as an invited reviewer for various academic journals.  Dr. Lang is a member of the American Psychological Association, Texas Psychological Association, and Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers.

Bilingual in English and Spanish, Dr. Lang enjoys training mental health professionals in motivational interviewing, international travel, and spending time with his family.
