Biography
I became a therapist because I know how powerful it is to feel truly heard. Growing up, I saw how much a supportive presence can change someone's path, and I wanted to be that for others. Life can be overwhelming, and sometimes we just need someone to help us make sense of it all. My goal is to provide a space where you feel safe, seen, and supported as you work through life’s challenges. Why I Became A Therapist: As a teen I had some kind, caring adults in my life who were not my parents, who helped in talking things through or figuring out what I was doing with my life. These experiences with my mentors made me want to be that for others- a caring, non-judgmental person that others trusted. I want to be someone who you know is there for you and sees the best in you. What can clients expect in their first interaction with me? In our first interaction you can expect warm conversation to help us to get comfortable with one another, discussion on what’s bringing you to therapy and what you hope to get from it, and we’ll figure out some doable goals together. What’s my role in our work together? There is a saying that refers to parenting, “it takes a village.” I have found that this idea extends into all areas of life. There is no handbook for life, no instructional guide for making decisions or figuring things out. As your therapist, I help you to process what’s going on in your life, support you in figuring things out and making those decisions, and am here to be a non-judgmental and encouraging presence. I have described my own experiences in therapy as “learning to be a person,” and I hope that’s what I can help you to do too. What do I want clients to take away from working with me? I want my clients to feel seen, heard, and understood. I want you to know that someone you trust is on your side. What’s something I wish more people knew about therapy? You don’t have to have something “wrong” with you to be in therapy. Therapy is a supportive space that is just for you and your needs- it is a form of caring for yourself the same way going to the doctor is.
