Biography

Ali Ashraf, MD, is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine, arthroscopic surgery, shoulder arthroplasty and the treatment of general orthopedic injuries. He provides comprehensive care for athletes and active individuals in Dallas, Rockwall and Forney experiencing shoulder, elbow, hip and knee injuries, helping patients return to the activities they enjoy with less pain and improved function.


Raised in Garland, Texas, Dr. Ashraf earned his bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Texas at Austin before attending Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine. Following medical school, he completed a year of orthopedic research at the prestigious Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, before returning to Texas Tech for orthopedic surgery residency training. During residency, he was recognized as Resident of the Month, Safe Surgeon of the Month, and served as Chief Resident.

Dr. Ashraf completed advanced fellowship training in orthopedic sports medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital, where he gained extensive experience in minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery and reconstructive procedures of the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee and ankle. During his fellowship, he cared for high school and collegiate athletes, participated in athlete evaluations at the NFL Combine, and contributed to the care of professional athletes with the New York Jets and New York Islanders.

His clinical interests include sports-related injuries, shoulder instability, rotator cuff tears, labral tears, cartilage injuries, ligament injuries, meniscus tears, shoulder arthritis and advanced shoulder reconstruction procedures. Dr. Ashraf utilizes both surgical and non-surgical treatment options, including arthroscopic and minimally invasive techniques, to help patients restore mobility, reduce pain and return to their desired level of activity.

In his free time, he likes to spend time with his family and friends, watch the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns, and discover new places to eat in the metroplex.
