Biography

Dr. Cates is a board-certified Orthopedic Surgeon who specializes in the care of fractures and post-traumatic reconstruction. He has particular interest in articular fractures (bone breaks near major joints), injuries to the pelvis and acetabulum, and fracture non-union and mal-union. Dr. Cates earned his medical degree from The University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio, TX, before completing an internship and residency at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He then completed a fellowship in Orthopedic Trauma at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC.


Dr. Cates has been named one of Texas Monthly's Texas Super Doctors for over 10 years earning him a place on Texas Monthly's Hall of Fame list.
