James Mack Lancaster, MD

J. Mack Lancaster, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacement surgery, arthroscopic knee surgery and the treatment of hip and knee arthritis. He sees patients in Dallas and is recognized for his expertise in primary and revision joint replacement, minimally invasive hip replacement, minimally invasive knee replacement and advanced techniques that help restore mobility and reduce pain.


Dr. Lancaster performs a high volume of hip and knee replacement procedures and has been actively involved in joint replacement research throughout his career. He performed the first minimally invasive hip replacement at Baylor University Medical Center and continues to utilize advanced surgical techniques for both hip and knee replacement surgery.

Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Lancaster has been caring for patients in North Texas for more than four decades and has been a physician member of BSW Orthopedic Associates of Dallas since 1984. His goal is to help patients regain function, return to an active lifestyle and achieve lasting relief from hip and knee pain.

Dr. Lancaster earned his bachelor's degree in zoology from the University of Tulsa, where he was an Academic All-America football player. He then attended The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Wake Forest University School of Medicine.
