Phillip Eugene Hansen, MD

Phillip E. Hansen, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in shoulder, elbow and hand surgery who sees patients in Dallas. He diagnoses and treats a wide range of upper extremity conditions, including shoulder arthritis, rotator cuff injuries, sports injuries, fractures, elbow disorders, hand conditions, nerve injuries and carpal tunnel syndrome. His expertise includes shoulder replacement surgery, arthroscopic shoulder surgery, hand surgery, elbow surgery, fracture care and treatment for pain, weakness and loss of function affecting the arm, hand and upper extremity.


Dr. Hansen is committed to helping patients restore mobility, relieve pain and return to the activities they enjoy through personalized treatment plans and advanced surgical techniques. He provides comprehensive care for both routine and complex conditions involving the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand.

A Dallas native, Dr. Hansen earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine and completed his orthopedic surgery residency in Houston. He pursued advanced fellowship training in shoulder and elbow surgery in New York City under Charles S. Neer II, MD, a pioneer in modern shoulder surgery and shoulder replacement. He also completed a second fellowship in hand surgery at Duke University Medical Center, providing him with specialized expertise across the entire upper extremity.

Dr. Hansen has been a physician with BSW Orthopedic Associates of Dallas since 1984 and holds board certification in orthopedic surgery, as well as a Certificate of Added Qualification in Hand Surgery. He is a longtime member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Society and has served in leadership roles with the North Texas Arthritis Foundation, supporting arthritis research and patient advocacy initiatives throughout the region.
