Virgil B. Medlock III, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and disorders of the shoulder and knee. He treats patients in Dallas for a wide range of orthopedic conditions, helping them return to work, athletics and the activities they enjoy most.
Dr. Medlock's clinical interests include sports-related injuries, shoulder pain, knee pain, rotator cuff injuries, shoulder instability, labral tears, meniscus injuries, ligament injuries, arthritis and overuse conditions affecting active individuals and athletes. He provides both surgical and non-surgical treatment options tailored to each patient's goals, lifestyle and activity level.
After earning his medical degree from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, Dr. Medlock completed his orthopedic surgery residency at The University of Texas Southwestern Affiliated Hospitals before pursuing advanced fellowship training with the San Diego Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine Group. His fellowship provided specialized experience in sports medicine, arthroscopic surgery and the treatment of shoulder and knee injuries.
A Dallas native, Dr. Medlock developed an early interest in sports medicine through his own experiences as a high school football player. Today, he is committed to helping athletes and active individuals recover from injury, restore mobility and achieve their performance goals.
Dr. Medlock has been recognized as a
D Magazine Best Doctor. He has also been named a Texas Super Doctor by Texas Monthly for more than 15 consecutive years, earning a place on the publication's prestigious Super Doctors Legacy List.
Outside of work, Dr. Medlock enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter and extended family in the Dallas area. He is an avid pilot who holds a multi-engine instrument rating and enjoys traveling and bird-hunting trips with family and friends.
