Interventional radiologists on the Baylor Scott & White – Plano medical staff are skilled in the minimally invasive treatment of disease processes that involve veins, arteries and vital organs.

Advanced Endovascular Care for Complex Vascular Conditions

Neurointerventional Radiologists perform minimally invasive procedures to diagnose and treat diseases of the brain, head, neck and spine. Today, neurointerventional radiology makes it possible for physicians on the Baylor Scott & White – Plano medical staff to take a minimally invasive, endovascular approach to treat vascular disease of the central nervous system.

Neurointerventional procedures use advanced devices and image-guided techniques to deliver treatments through a small puncture in the skin of the groin or arm instead of open surgery.

Among the cerebrovascular diseases that may be treated with these innovative procedures are ruptured and unruptured brain aneurysms, stroke, carotid artery disease, arteriovenous malformations and fistulas, osteoporotic and pathologic vertebral fractures, and tumors of the brain, head, neck and spine. These minimally invasive procedures usually involve small or no incisions, less pain and shorter recovery times than traditional open surgery.

The neurointerventional radiologists on the medical staff at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Plano are board certified in diagnostic radiology and have advanced fellowship training in neurointerventional surgery, interventional radiology and/or neuroradiology. They work as part of a multidisciplinary team, including neurosurgeons, neurologists, neuro-oncologists, intensivists, interventionalists and otolaryngologists, to provide complete neurological care.
