Seshanand Palimar Rao, MD

Dr. Seshanand Rao earned his medical degree from Rush Medical College and completed his Internal Medicine residency at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine, with a specialization in Hospital Medicine (hospitalists care for patients in the acute care setting).  He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Rao’s professional interests include diagnostic adult medicine, patient safety and quality improvement, medical education, and leadership development.


Dr. Rao currently serves as the division director for hospital-based specialties in the Greater Austin Region at Baylor Scott & White Health. In this role, he oversees Hospital Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Teleneurology, Radiology, and Interventional Radiology. Additionally, he serves as the physician lead for Quality and Patient Safety, driving initiatives to improve clinical outcomes and patient care.  He also serves as a clinical assistant professor of medicine at Texas A&M University, where he contributes to student training and mentorship.

Outside of work, he is developing himself as a mindful and intentional parent and focusing on healthy living, while striving for a balanced and fulfilling professional and personal life.
