By your side from cancer diagnosis to recovery
Cancer affects many areas of your life—from your emotional and spiritual well-being to your family and loved ones. We’re here to help you navigate it all.
With cancer events and support groups across Texas, patient navigators and numerous support and educational resources, we’ll stand by your side all the way from cancer diagnosis into survivorship. With Baylor Scott & White Health, you'll never have to fight cancer alone.
Cancer support groups and programs
Sometimes it helps to talk with others about cancer. No matter where you are in your journey, we offer several programs across Texas that connect you with a cancer support community:
- Cancer-specific support groups so you can meet others with similar diagnoses
- Educational programs that give you practical tools to live better during and after treatment
- Therapeutic activities to help relieve stress and enhance your healing process
- Cancer events that celebrate and advocate for survivors like you
Cancer support for caregivers
When your loved one is facing cancer, you want to help them stay strong in their fight. But it’s OK if you need support too.
At Baylor Scott & White, our approach to cancer care recognizes the vital role of family, caregivers and friends. As a caregiver, you have access to a cancer support community along with your patient.
With help from our cancer support groups in Texas, educational resources and access to our caring patient navigators you can better be there for your patient all the way from cancer diagnosis to recovery.
Patient navigation and social work services
Our cancer patient navigators serve as a guide for your entire cancer journey. They connect you with the care, support and resources you need. Navigators also provide valuable education so that you feel empowered in your care decisions.
In some cases, you may also benefit from oncology social work services. Our social workers provide additional access to resources in both the hospital and in the community. They can help you with the emotional, social, mental and physical effects of cancer.
Cancer resource centers and boutiques
Our cancer resource centers provide a place for you to ask questions and learn more about your condition. Specialized cancer boutiques are also available to help you look and feel your best during cancer treatment.
Our chaplains help people from every religious group with spiritual support. They offer comfort, prayer, religious resources and more to care for you as a whole person.
Chaplains are available to visit with you during business hours. If you have an emergency need, we also have chaplains on call 24/7. If you have a prayer request, you can submit it online through our prayer request form. No matter your beliefs, we’re here to support you.
Our palliative care program provides extra support for serious illness or end-stage cancer. Palliative care is different than hospice. If you choose, you can continue to receive other treatments at the same time, such as chemotherapy or radiation therapy.
Through our program, you’ll have access to a team of care providers who are trained in the issues you may face due to advanced cancer. Some of our services include counseling, nutrition, speech and occupational therapy, or pain management. We help you get care that meets your needs and wants.
