Care when and where your child needs it
Care when and where your child needs it
Our Telehealth at School program brings trusted care from McLane Children’s right to your child’s school campus. With this virtual program, your child can complete a video visit with one of our pediatric providers—without leaving school.
From rashes to coughs to headaches, we’ll provide a diagnosis and work with your school nurse to determine if your child can return to class or needs to recover at home. That means less time away from school for kids, less time away from work for you and even more access to the care your family needs.
For urgent care visits at home, children and adults can access virtual care anytime through MyBSWHealth.
Who can use school-based telehealth?
If your child isn’t feeling well, they should visit the nurse’s office on campus. There, your school nurse will decide if a virtual pediatric visit is needed and contact you before scheduling an appointment.
To use school-based telehealth, your child should:
- Be enrolled as a student at an eligible K-12 campus
- Have a signed parental consent form for the program on file
- Have symptoms that can be treated through virtual care
Conditions we can treat
Our program offers care for nonemergency conditions and minor healthcare issues. Your school nurse should follow the school’s process to contact you if your child has a health issue that needs urgent in-person care instead.
Common conditions we treat include:
- Cough, cold and flu
- Rashes
- Pink eye
- Asthma
- Earaches and headaches
- Other acute conditions
How it works
With our dedicated providers and easy-to-use tools for school nurses, we make it simple to connect with care for your child from their campus. Through your child’s virtual visit, you can often find the answers you need to help them feel better—without having to go to the doctor’s office.
Step 1: Visit the school nurse
- Your child visits the school nurse for an illness or injury.
- If a pediatric visit might be needed, the nurse will contact you.
- The nurse will sign up for an appointment with an available provider.
Step 2: Complete a video visit
- The school nurse starts the video visit for your child.
- You can join your child’s virtual visit
- Your provider offers a diagnosis and treatment plan.
Step 3: Get back to your day
- Any necessary medications will be sent to the pharmacy.
- You may save time and avoid urgent care costs.

What parents need to know
You know your child best. We’ll keep you involved and informed while your child receives care. To take part in the program, you must preregister your child and complete the enrollment form. You’ll also need to have a MyBSWHealth account.
Most insurance plans only require a visit copay for virtual visits completed through our program—similar to what you’d pay at an in-person office visit. Your school nurse will communicate with you before scheduling a visit, and you’ll have the option to join and speak directly with our providers. After the visit, you’ll get follow-up communication to guide your next steps.
Meet our providers
With our Telehealth at School program, your child will see a dedicated physician or advanced practice provider who specializes in pediatric care.
