What to Do

Within your first 30 days of benefits eligibility:

As a new hire, you become eligible for benefits on your first day of work. You have 30 days from your date of hire (or date you become benefits eligible) to enroll. Once you enroll, coverage begins right away. Unless you have a qualified life event, you won’t be able to make coverage changes after your initial enrollment period until the next annual enrollment. So use this time wisely to compare plans, decide who to cover and get the best benefits for you!

Spend some time reviewing the benefits you want to enroll in, then choose which dependents you want to cover.

Important: You are eligible to participate in our 401(k) plan right away and can make changes anytime throughout the year. We match your contributions dollar-for-dollar up to the first 5% of eligible pay. You are always 100% vested in your own contributions, and matching contributions vest after three years of employment.

If you or a covered dependent live 40 or more miles from the nearest Tier 1 acute-care hospital, contact Baylor Scott & White Health Plan (BSWHP) at 844.843.3229 to activate out-of-area coverage (80% vs. 50% after Tier 2 deductible for inpatient and outpatient services).

Important: You are automatically enrolled in short-term disability coverage. Premiums for this coverage are deducted from your paycheck before taxes. If you do not want STD, you must opt out during your enrollment window. Keep in mind that if you opt out when first eligible, future coverage may be subject to the pre-existing condition provision. STD coverage pays a portion of your salary if you’re sick or injured. It’s also the only way to receive maternity, parental or adoption benefits.

Go to PeoplePlace > Benefit Details tile > Benefits Enrollment > New Hire Event to enroll in coverage. Designate one or more beneficiaries for your life and AD&D benefits and 401(k) account.
