Eligibility
We offer a variety of time off programs to meet the diverse needs of our workforce—supporting them on their journeys to living well.
Paid time off (PTO)
Team members who are eligible for the Paid Time Off program accrue PTO and are eligible for our annual PTO sell/donate campaign.
Eligibility
Regular full and part time team members are eligible for the paid time off (PTO) program, except those who are 7 on/7 off, Advance Practice Professionals (APP) shift providers, PRNs, contingent/contract workers, practicing physicians, covered under the tracking-free time off policy (TFTO).
How it works
Accruing and using your PTO
Eligible team members earn PTO to use for holidays, vacations, sick days and other personal reasons.
- You start accruing PTO on your first day of work.
- Accrual is based on the number of regular hours you work (up to your standard hours) and years of service.
- The more years of service you have, the more PTO you can accrue.
- Plus, you can carry over up to 200 hours of PTO into the next calendar year.
Always coordinate with your supervisor to keep him or her up to date on your plans to take time off.

PTO sell/donate campaign
While there is no substitute for taking time away from work to rest and recharge, eligible employees* can choose to sell and/or donate PTO during our annual campaign, running each fall.
The annual limit for sell/donate is a combined 80 hours per year to split as you see fit—sell all 80 hours, donate all 80 hours or anything in between.
- Sell PTO: If you sell PTO, you will receive 90% of your hourly pay rate multiplied by the number of hours sold. The amount sold will be subject to applicable payroll taxes and is 401(k) eligible.
- To sell part of your PTO bank, you must: Sell a minimum of eight hours; Maitain a balance of 16 hours to ensure available time off for holidays, sick time, etc.
- Donate PTO: If you donate to a BSW Foundation and/or United Way, you can designate your donation to the areas of need that matter most to you.
