Patient and Caregiver Guide

At Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital – Plano, our goal is to create an environment where you and your family feel at ease. We understand that facing surgery can be an overwhelming experience. This guide provides information you and your family need to prepare mentally and physically for your upcoming procedure.

Your individual needs are very important to us. If at any time during your visit you have a question or concern, please contact your nurse or a staff member so we may address your needs promptly.

Complimentary Valet Parking

We encourage you to use our complimentary valet parking, which is available from 5 a.m. through midnight every day, including weekends. The valet is located at the main entrance near the intersection of Allied Drive and Alliance Boulevard.

Text Ahead Valet Service

Using your cell phone, send a text to 214.643.8311, our valet service, when you want them to retrieve your vehicle.

For example, "Ticket number 12345, I'll be downstairs in 15 minutes." A confirmation text will be sent to your phone of your request. The service is free of charge and is offered for your convenience.

Call Ahead Valet Service

Or, you may call the Valet House Phone at 469.814.4788 and provide the valet ticket number and your pick up time.

Please be sure to have your valet ticket ready to expedite the vehicle retrieval process.

Self Parking

In addition to complimentary valet parking, you may also self-park in the visitor parking garage in front of the Pavilion II building.

Dining Options

The Heart Rock Café

The Heart Rock Café is located in the 6th Floor Lobby and is open during the following hours:

Weekday hours
Breakfast: 7 to 10 a.m
Lunch: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Grab-and-go soup and sandwiches: 2 to8 p.m.

Weekend hours
Breakfast: 7 to 10 a.m.
Grab-and-go soup and sandwiches: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.​

Room Service

Room Service is available from 7 a.m. through 7 p.m. daily, including weekends, for convenient in-suite dining. Call 469.814.4777to place orders from the guest suite.

Your family and visitors may dine with you in your suite for a $7 charge. Within 45 minutes of placing a dining order from your suite, a courteous server will arrive with your freshly prepared, heart-healthy meal presented on fine china. Our executive chef and staff prepare your meals when you order them. Our menus are a la carte, meaning you get to choose each item for your meal (within the restrictions of your diet, of course), when you want. 

Our nutritionists can guide you through the ordering process and ensure that you are ordering items that are part of your heart-healthy diet. We feel that by serving you delicious heart-healthy food in the hospital, you'll know the kinds of foods that are appropriate when you return home.

Vending Machines

Vending machines are located on the first floor near the Emergency Department entrance.

Concierge and Information Desk

The hospital's concierge staff is ready to assist you with directions and answer questions about the hospital. They are also prepared to offer suggestions on dining and hotel accommodations in Plano and surrounding areas and provide maps to help you find your destination.

Concierge services are offered on floors one through five with varying hours. The main lobby concierge service hours of operation:

  • Monday-Friday: 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Saturday: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Sunday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.​

We encourage patients, fellow employees, physicians and visitors to recognize employees who display Five Star Spirit. Simply complete our Five Star Spirit form​, sign it and drop it in any Five Star Spirit box or mail it to the address listed on the form. Your nomination may result in special recognition for the employee.

Gift Shop

The gift shop is located on the first floor near the lobby.

Visitors should check with the nurse before bringing patients food or drinks to ensure they are appropriate for the patient. In intensive care units, please check with nurses regarding any gifts.

Guest Accommodations

Our spacious guest suites are private sanctuaries with the kind of comforts seen in luxury hotels.

All suites have floor-to-ceiling windows that provide ample natural light and pleasant views, as well as hardwood-style floors. Wall-mounted, flat screen TVs entertain and can be used to review medical images once your procedure is finished. We also provide complimentary wireless internet access. 

Our suites have sleeping accommodations for visitors that offer comfort for overnight stays. You and your visitors can order upscale meals daily for convenient in-suite dining.

Visitor Lounges

There are designated lounges for visitors on patient floors. Specific areas have been designated for guests in other areas. If you are in a large group, we ask for your consideration of other patients’ families when seating is limited. Wireless laptops can be used in most areas by connecting to our visitor wireless network. Charging stations and outlets are also available in select lounge areas.

The use of wireless communication devices, such as cell phones, notebooks and laptops, can interfere with medical equipment and is restricted in all patient care areas. Please restrict your use of these devices to visitor lounges and non-patient care areas.

Spiritual Care

We believe total guest care includes attending to one's spiritual fulfillment.

Our Chapel is located on the first floor and is accessible from the main lobby. Beautiful and serene, it is a place for quiet reflection and prayer.

Our chaplain holds a weekly worship service at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, noon each Wednesday, and 8:45 a.m. on Friday, as well as special events and seminars throughout the year.

Chaplain service is available 24 hours a day. However, your priest, minister, rabbi, or other spiritual leader is always welcome to visit with you and your family at the hospital.

MyBSWHealth

MyBSWHealth is a online tool where you can communicate with your providers, schedule an appointment, access and manage your family’s health.

Insurance Accepted

Baylor Scott & White has established agreements with several types of insurances in an effort to make sure your health needs are covered.

To verify whether your insurance plan covers services rendered at Baylor Scott & White Health, contact your insurance provider directly by visiting your provider's website or calling the phone number listed on your insurance identification card.

Medical Records

You can request copies of your medical records by completing an Authorization for Release of Information form and returning to the facility at which you received care.

Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation

If you have experienced a cardiac event such as a heart attack, or have been diagnosed with a lung disorder such as COPD, Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital – Plano offers rehabilitation services that can help you return to daily life.

Our programs feature a multidisciplinary team of professionals, including nurses, exercise physiologists, dietitians and chaplains, working together to coordinate care — at your pace.

Cardiothoracic Surgery

The cardiothoracic surgery specialists on our medical staff perform open surgery as well as minimally invasive and robot-assisted techniques.

For arrhytthmias requiring surgical intervention, electrophysiologists on the medical staff at Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital - Plano offer both traditional open surgeries and minimally invasive procedures.

Emergency Medicine

The emergency cardiac care department is a 24-hour, 7-days-a-week, accredited chest pain center with board-certified emergency room physicians and cardiologists on the medical staff.

We are highly trained in treating and caring for guests experiencing chest pain or a heart attack.

Outpatient Cardiac Care

Specialists on the medical staff of Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital - Plano offer specialized outpatient care — from disease prevention to diagnostics and management — at our two Baylor Scott & White Center for Advanced Cardiovascular Care locations.

Vascular and Endovascular Surgery

The vascular surgery specialists on our medical staff perform open surgery as well as minimally invasive techniques.
