A free education program to help you and your family live heart-healthy
About Leap for Life
The Leap for Life wellness and prevention program at Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital is a free educational webinar for anyone at risk of cardiovascular disease—and for the families who support them. Through virtual sessions, you’ll learn simple steps you can take to protect your heart, prevent heart-related problems and improve your overall health.
Offered once a month, Leap for Life features a range of healthcare professionals who provide you with practical information about simple, consistent lifestyle choices that can make a difference for your heart. You’ll gain the confidence to take the next step in your heart-health journey and keep your heart working at its best.
Why heart disease prevention matters
When you show your heart some love, it helps you keep loving what you do. While heart disease is one of the most common conditions in the United States, in many cases, you can take steps to prevent it or reduce your risk. Even if you’ve already been told you have heart disease, small heart-healthy habits can have a big impact on keeping your heart on track.
That’s the goal of our Leap for Life program—to give you the power to recognize your risk factors and take proactive steps that support your long-term wellness. With the right information and our team by your side, you can create a plan that your heart will love.
What you’ll learn in the workshop
Each Leap for Life session focuses on a specific topic related to lifestyle management and heart disease prevention—all designed to take simple steps that reduce your future heart risks. Our topics change each month, so there’s always something new to learn.
Through our sessions, you’ll hear from a range of medical professionals from areas like cardiac nursing, cardiac rehab, exercise physiology, nutrition and dietetics, and pharmacy. These care team members will guide you through each topic and answer your questions.
Past topics have included:
- How your heart and cardiovascular system work
- Heart-healthy eating, label-reading tips and recipes
- Tips for using exercise to boost heart health
- Understanding your heart health medications
- Stress management techniques and resources for mental wellness
- Managing conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure and lung disease
