Advocating for children through prevention and education

The center’s staff works to develop Shaken Baby Prevention Programs in all of the surrounding Central Texas hospitals that handle deliveries. Our Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners and forensic nurses are also working to create educational opportunities for child advocates in the community, law enforcement agencies, Child Protective Services, medical and nursing students, Communities in Schools, and Unit Victim Advocates.

The center is also working to create an annual conference on child abuse topics and to develop a program on “appropriate touching,” in which the staff will work with various community groups to educate younger children on this subject.
